Venture Out Into The Wild With An African Safari

With a climate ranging from the tropical to the sub arctic, Africa is one of the most diverse continents, as well as the second largest, in the world. Boasting desert lands and dusty plains to the north, and thick jungle across the central and southern areas, it is a great place to unleash your inner explorer. Add to the mix an unparalleled wealth of wildlife and you have the perfect setting for heading out on safari.

Located in East Africa, Kenya is cited as one of the continent?s premium places for venturing into the wild, not least because of the sheer diversity of game on offer. The Masai Mara park reserve in the south of the country is particularly popular and is renowned for its annual zebra and wildebeest migration, which occurs annually from July to October.

The Amboseli, on the other hand, provides visitors with some breathtaking views, due to its proximity to Mount Kilimanjaro ? Africa?s tallest peak – whilst Lake Nakuru is the ideal location to view the millions of flamingos that gather along the shore. And, whether you travel by 4×4, minibus or take a flying safari, you are guaranteed to be dazzled by all that Kenya has to offer.

Lying to the north of Kenya, Tanzania is another superb safari destination. Offering up a variety of diverse landscapes, ranging from sprawling mountains, lush rainforests and great lakes, to the impossibly huge, scorched plains, it is a veritable hotpot filled with action and adventure.

The Serengeti region, found in the country?s north west, is definitely the place to head to, mainly because it is possible to witness the longest and largest overland migration on the planet. Indeed, referred to as one of the ten natural travel wonders of the world, it is a sight not to be missed. Additionally, there are a number of national parks and game reserves just waiting to be discovered.

The Kruger National Park in South Africa is one of the largest games reserves and contains a staggering array of wildlife, flora and fauna. In fact, spend some time there and you have the chance to spot over 500 species of birds, as well as nearly 150 different types of mammal, including black rhinoceroses, waterbuck, leopards and spotted hyenas.

And, with the option of being whisked away on a game drive or taking the adventurous option of a walking safari, this is a brilliant location for observing the wildlife in all its natural glory. What?s more, with a range of luxury accommodation options, you can look forward to being pampered at the end of a hot day.

There are a huge number of holiday options in Africa, each with their own unique sense of character and style. While Safari holidays are just one way in which to experience the dark continent, they do provide one of the best ways to see some of the most beautiful and famous parts of Africa.
